The Action Fraud website regularly publishes useful information about current scams and frauds that are happening in the UK. In addition to descriptions of reported cons, the site offers practical information and guidance on how to be prepared against the scammers.
This week the site reported on a Fake TV Licence Refund email scam. The email which claims to be refunding a TV licence overpayment contains links to "receive the refund".
"The refund links lead to cloned TV Licencing websites that are designed to harvest bank account and credit card details."
Organisations and websites like Action Fraud are key to enriching our understanding of cyber security, and a better understanding reduces the likelihood of becoming a victim of online fraud.
