Spam Email Claims About GDPR Compensation

Well, it didn't take long - one of our colleagues has just received an entertaining / amusing / scary email (unsolicited, by the way!) headlined "You May Be Eligible for a GDPR Compensation Payment. Check Now."
So, as PPI winds down, look what's coming next - promises of compensation from any company currently holding your personal data if you - well, in this case, download a Claims Pack which doubtless just tells you what the rest of the email hinted at. Under the new GDPR legislation, you (i.e. anyone) can raise a Subject Access Request against any organisation for free (in most circumstances - it used to be chargeable under the previous Data Protection Act).
OK - a reality check - this particular email was laughably amateur and in itself not GDPR compliant (it was spam and doesn't provide a proper unsubscribe mechanism) - but it is a portent of things to come. The upshot - GDPR is not going away - it wasn't just about sorting out your Privacy Policy and (often unnecessarily) regaining consent against your marketing database. It is an ongoing compliance requirement and you need to be prepared.
PYXI for GDPR is designed to help you and your business or organisation to get and stay compliant, including providing a full Subject Access Request management process.
