Do you need a Data Protection Officer?

Most small businesses will not need a Data Protection Officer (DPO).
However, if the following scenarios apply for your business, you will need to appoint someone internally or externally to act as your DPO:
- You are a Public Authority (exemption is a Judicial Court)
- If your core business involves large scale, regular and systematic monitoring of individuals (for example, online behaviour tracking, wide-scale CCTV recording)
- Includes large scale-processing of sensitive data (also known as special categories of data) OR criminal offence / conviction data
